CHAPTER 15:

I stood there and heard him put himself down. It hurt me to hear him talk like that. I wonder who he was talking about. It was probably about his supposed girlfriend that model whose name I can’t remember at this time. I fought with myself on whether to walk over to him or not. As I backed away, I accidently walked into a guitar that was on its stand near my leg but I caught it just before it hit the ground. Unfortunately, I couldn’t avoid the noise it made when my leg kicked it and it fell off the stand. Kevin stopped talking and quickly turned around to face me.

“Is?” he said questioningly.
“I was just coming to see if you needed help in anything,” I said as I felt my face turn red.
“How long were you standing there?” he asked as he slowly set the guitar down.
“A while” I answered.
“Did you hear that?” he asked.
“That meaning you singing or that meaning you talking to yourself” I answered more like a question.
“Both” he answered as he turned back to pick up the guitar.
“Yeah I heard that it was beautiful,” I said as I walked over to him.
“You really think so?” he asked as he turned to face me.
“I know so and plus does it look like I would lie to you” I said with a smile.
“Thanks” he said returning the smile.
“Hey and for the record the song was really good for a so called awesome band” I replied causing him to laugh.
“Funny you know Is that’s very funny” he replied. “I’ll show you an awesome band I promise”
“I’ll remember to hold you to that,” I said as I pulled a stool and sat beside him.
“Deal” he said as he picked up the guitar. “I think I found her,” he said as he began strumming.
“Who?” I asked.
“Joanna. I think I found her but at the same time I'm not sure,” he said confusing me.
“Ok explain,” I asked.
“Well you remember those two girls that yelled saying they knew who my Cinderella was?” he asked.
“Yeah” I replied. How could I forget them they were my evil cousins?
“Well it turns out one of them was her. You know the tall one with light skin, green eyes and long light brown hair straight down to her waist” he described. “That’s Joanna,” he added. No that’s Virginia I wanted to say.
“Oh really” I replied with a hint of sarcasm. What a lying bitch.
“Yeah she told me that she had a great time last night before she was chased away and she invited me to go out with her and my brothers tonight” he explained.
“Oh that’s great I hope you have fun,” I said as I got up. “I should really head back to work” I started to make my way to the door.
“But there’s something about her that doesn’t seem quite right” he stopped me. “I don’t know what it is but she just doesn’t seem like the girl I met last night,” he said as he walked over and stood in front of me.

“I never noticed how beautiful your eyes are,” he said as he looked into my eyes. “They’re green,” he said as he stepped closer to me.
“Thanks I got them from my grandmother” I replied as my eyes locked with his.
“They look exactly like Joanna’s eyes,” he said as he slowly placed his palm on my cheek.
“Um” I said as my heart began to race. “As you were saying? What doesn’t feel right about her?” I said breaking eye contact and turning away.
“Oh um well I don’t know she just doesn’t seem herself you know like something’s changed about her” he said stepping back.
“Like what exactly?” I asked trying to somewhat understand.
“Well yesterday she was all shy and happy about everything that was happening. We won best costume and you should’ve seen her she was surprised as if she’d never won anything in her life. She had this sparkle in her eye that I’ve never seen in anyone’s eyes before. I mean you could see that she was really enjoying herself. As if it were her first time having fun and letting loose. Then today she’s all cocky and confident you know. The complete opposite of what I loved about her. And I'm not sure if I made the right decision on letting her get to me so easily today. I mean what if it’s not really her,” he explained and he was right. It wasn’t really her. She was an imposter but I couldn’t tell him that.
“What did you feel last night?” I asked.
“For the first time in four years I felt happy spending time with a great girl who treated me right” he replied looking away but I could hear the sadness in his voice.
“And what do you feel at this moment?”
“Confused about my feelings and my judgment” he said looking at me.

“What about your girlfriend?” I asked curiously. I'm guessing he forgot about her.
“That’s a whole other problem. We’ve been on a on and off relationship for four years now and I don’t know where that’s going to take me but it won’t be to happiness I can assure you that. She’s controlling and demanding but she owns my heart what can I do. Let me tell you something she’s not very good at caring for it. But you can’t control who you love. Your heart betrays you in ways you can’t imagine and in ways you don’t understand and you probably never will but it’s what the heart chooses though. I love her or at least I think I still do. I don’t know it’s all just too much,” he said with tear-filled eyes.
“Just try this. Call her, speak to her, then go out with this girl tonight, and have fun. Afterwards you tell me what you feel is right. Tell me if any of those girls are worth the pain and suffering you go through,” I advised.
“You really are great Is I'm glad we ran into each other literally. You know tonight’s my last night but I really hope to see you again. How about I give you a call next time I'm in town and we can take a trip around Miami,” he offered.
“Sounds like a plan to me” I said smiling as I handed him my phone, he entered his number, and I did as well to his phone.
“So I guess I’ll see you around” he said as he placed the guitar back on its stand and walked over to me. “And you really do have pretty eyes. Probably the most gorgeous green eyes ever,” he said as he softly kissed me on the cheek and headed to the door.
“I’ll see you on TV and stuff Mr. Jonas. And remember you still have to show me a so called awesome band” I said smiling.
“I promised remember and thanks Is you’re a great friend” he said and with that he opened the door and walked out of my life.
“Too bad that’s all we’ll ever be,” I whispered to the closed door in front of me.
