CHAPTER 11:

The mystery girl slowly walked down the grand staircase and the spotlight suddenly shined on her as she made her entrance. Everyone stopped and turned to look at her as she walked down to the song “May Angels Lead you in” by Jimmy Eat World. She reached the bottom of the staircase and you could see that she was blushing at the fact that everyone had his or her eyes on her. She stopped at the bottom and stood for a few seconds looking around before heading over to the punch bowl. I quickly walked over to my brothers.

“Can I talk to you guys for a sec?” I asked trying not to be rude to their dates.
“We’re going to get something to drink. Come on Ariel” Peyton said excusing herself as they walked over to the punch table.
“Well what’s up?” Nick asked.
“Ok remember yesterday I was mad so I left and then I came back happy” I tried to explain.
“Uhuh” Joe replied.
“Well I went to this music store at the mall and I met this girl she was very pretty and nice. Her name was Is. She’s friends with both of your dates. I invited her well Garbo invited her but she didn’t show up” I went on.
“You want us to find out?” Nick asked.
“Please?” I replied.
“Sure” he said.
“Well remember that mask I saw at the costume store?” I continued.
“Yeah” Joe nodded.
“Did you see that girl that just entered looking like Cinderella? Well she was wearing that mask and she reminded me a lot of Is but I don’t know if it’s her and I’m afraid to go up and ask” I finished.
“The one over there by the drinks?” Nick asked pointing over in her direction.
“Don’t point she’s going to see that we’re talking about her” I said pushing his arm down.
“Sorry” he apologized. “But is it her?”
“Yeah that’s her,” I simply stated.
“She looks alone go. Now’s your chance before someone else takes it from you because she looks really pretty” Joe advised.
“Alright wish me luck”
“Good luck” they said in unison as I walked away.

*ISABELLA’S POV*
“Nick just pointed at you,” Peyton said walking up to me.
“I think Kevin’s asking for you and yes as in the Kevin Jonas,” Ariel said as they poured themselves drinks.
“I can’t believe Nick Jonas asked me to dance” Peyton said. She loves Nick he’s her favorite.
“You. I can’t believe Joe gave me a pass,” Ariel said.
“Girls back to me” I said wondering about Kevin.
“Sorry” they said in unison.
“What does Kevin want with you?” Ariel asked.
“Well we sort of met yesterday,” I said rubbing the back of my neck.
“What?” they both shrieked.
“Yea how do you think I got the tickets and front row too?” I asked.
“Omg you slut” they joked. “JK”
“He forced me to take them as a birthday present”
“Is and Kevin sitting in a tree” they began in unison.
“Shhh omg he’s heading this way,” I said panicked.
“What are you going to do?”
“I don’t know but whatever I do you don’t know me ok”
“Alright Is” Peyton said turning away from me.
“And that’s not my name either”
“What are you going to tell him I don’t know I’ll think of something though now leave please” I begged.
“Alright see you later”

*KEVIN’S POV*
I walked over to the table and walked up next to Ariel and Peyton.

“Is?” I asked as I stood up behind the mystery girl. Ariel and Peyton walked back to Joe and Nick.
“Um no sorry the um… Jo uh Joanna. Nice to me you uh”
“Kevin. I’m Kevin,” I said rubbing the back of my neck.
“I like that name” she said in the sweetest voice.
“Thanks and I’m sorry about that I thought you were someone else” I apologized.
“It’s okay. Well see you around” she said and she turned around and began to walk away.
“Um Joanna wait” I said and she stopped.

“I’ll Be” by: Edwin McCain began to play as everyone began to slow dance with their dates. I walked over to her and she turned around.

“Would you like to um dance?” I asked nervously.
“I’d love to” she said and I took her hand and carried her to the center of the dance floor.

We danced gracefully to the music, I couldn’t stop staring into her beautiful eyes, and she couldn’t stop smiling. I loved her smile and the way her green eyes glittered every time she smiled and blushed. And the way it changed colors with the sparkling of the mask. The spotlight shined on the center of the dance floor where we were dancing. I twirled her and spinned her as we moved around the floor together. It felt as if it was just the two of us and no one else in the room. The song ended and everyone clapped scaring me back into reality. We had totally forgotten that there were other people here. We looked around to see everyone’s eyes on us. We bowed and she blushed. Then an announcer went onto the stage and grabbed the mic.

“Hello everyone are you having a good time?” she asked and everyone clapped and yelled. “My name is Valerie Morales and I put together this Halloween Party with the help of the Disney Channel Committee so please give them a round of applause” we all clapped and whistled. “Now I would like to take the time to thank everyone for joining us tonight and it is now time to announce this year’s King and Queen for best dressed” everyone got excited again. “The winner’s for tonight’s King and Queen are Cinderella and her Prince Charming” then the spotlight was on us once again.

“Omg that’s us” she said surprised.
“Let’s Go” I said as I held her hand and walked with her up on stage. They crowned us both, the whole time she couldn’t stop smiling, and blushing. It was actually very cute.

“Now it’s time for the King and Queen Dance” Valerie announced and the music slowed down and the only light left on was a blue spotlight on the dance floor. I helped her down the steps of the stage and we walked to the center.

“May I?”I asked with my hand out for her to take. She nodded and took my hand, I bowed, and she curtsied. We began dancing and I reached to remove her mask but then I heard someone yell.

“OMG YOU’RE KEVIN JONAS!” the girl yelled as she ran up to me. “AHHHHH!” she screamed.
“Omg not now” I whispered to myself.
“Kevin Omg I love you can I take a picture with you? Can I have your autograph?” she asked without stopping to breathe.
“I’m kind of in the middle of something,” I told her as politely as possible.
“No go ahead Kevin” Joanna replied. She was so sweet.
“No Joanna I’m here dancing with you right now,” I said. I didn’t want to let her go.
“Omg! Just move will you it’s my turn!” the girl yelled and she pushed Joanna away from me causing her to bump into another girl that was running towards me.
“Excuse you! Move!” the other yelled rudely as she shoved Joanna this time straight to the ground.

“Omg! Joanna!” I yelled. “Wait!” I said to the two girls ambushing me. Joanna just sat there and looked up at everyone watching her. I saw her eyes begin to tear up. The second girl that pushed Joanna to the floor ran up to me and blocked me from running over to help her.

“Kevin where’s Joe?” she asked breathless. I tried to get around them but I just couldn’t.

*NICK’S POV*
I stood there watching all the drama that was going down on the dance floor. Poor girl. How could they shove her to the ground like that? Just to get to Kevin. Couldn’t they see that they were dancing? I saw Peyton pull out her phone.

“Gosh it’s almost midnight,” she said worried. “Nick I’m having a great time but I have to go” she said.
“Already” I said looking away from Kevin and facing her.
“Yeah um give me your phone,” she asked and I handed it to her. “Call me sometime,” she said after putting her number in.
“Before you go um… I want to give you something,” I said and I leaned and gave her a kiss on the cheek. I didn’t want to scare her by moving to fast. “I had a great time too,” I whispered and she smiled at me.
“Thank you for this wonderful night bye” she said now turning to Joe’s date. “Come on Ariel we have to go”
“Bye Joe” Ariel said and they kissed on the lips. As always Joe making the fast move. “Nice to meet you Nick bye” she said turning away.
“Bye” I waved.
“I’ll call you,” Joe yelled to her as they walked away.

“Joanna! Wait!” I heard Kevin yell. The two girls were holding him back from chasing after the girl.
“Omg Never mind I see him! Ahhhhh Joe!” I heard the second girl yell. “Ahh! Joe! I love you Joe!” she yelled as she ran towards him. I looked towards where the girl Joanna was on the floor. Peyton and Ariel were helping her up as tears flowed from her eyes.

“It’s almost midnight why don’t we kick it up a bit,” the DJ said as he changed the music to hip-hop.

When the DJ said it was almost midnight Joanna’s expression changed. The tears stopped and she looked surprised and worried. She suddenly turned around and ran towards the stairs.

“No! Joanna! Wait!” Kevin yelled again. “Don’t go!” He yelled as he tried to get pass the girl.

He was stuck. I turned to Joe and saw that he was stuck also. I turned to staircase to see Joanna running up the stairs. I was the only one free so I ran after her.

“Wait!” I yelled but she kept running. I was halfway up the stairs running after her when I saw something fall from her. I stopped and slowly bent down to pick it up. It was a thin gold necklace with a heart-shaped locket. “You dropped some-” I started but I stopped because I looked up and she was gone.

I ran outside and nothing. There was no car no sign of her no nothing, as if she never even ran outside. She was gone. I turned around and headed back inside but as I was walking, I looked at the locket and at the same Joe and Kevin came running out.

“Where is she? Did you catch her?” Kevin asked out of breath.
“No she was too fast but she dropped this,” I said handing him the locket.
“Those girls omg! I hate people like that,” Joe, said breathless as well. “Did you see the way they pushed her?”
“Yeah I felt so bad” I replied.
“Open the locket” Joe said to Kevin.
“I don’t know bro it’s her personal privacy” Kevin replied.
“Did you see her face?” I asked.
“No, I was about to but those two girls came and ruined it” he explained.
“Alright then open it maybe there’s a picture of her and you can see what she looked like” I suggested.
“I don’t know bro” he replied looking at the locket.
“You really liked her right?” Joe asked.
“Yeah” he said in a low tone loud enough for us to hear.
“Then open it,” I said.
“So that you can find her,” Joe added.
“Okay fine” he said.

He slowly opened the locket. It was a picture of a little girl with green eyes about 6 or 7 years old. She was with two older people whom I guess were her parents.

“Those eyes” Kevin said to himself as he closed the locket. He looked up at us and then turned around and walked back inside.
