CHAPTER 1 CONT.

*ISABELLA'S POV*
It 's hard to believe that we just graduated high school a couple days ago and my best friend Lucas is leaving tomorrow to California to fulfill his dream something I can't do because my aunt-well Nicole as she says I must call her- won't let me she says I have to stay here in Miami to help with the store that my parents left her. Help more like do all the work myself. Today is Lucas' graduation party and the last day of school.

"Are you coming to my goodbye party tonight Is?" Lucas asked me as we walked to lunch.
"I don't know Luke I have to see if Nicole lets me go"
"Why do you still put up with her?" he said as we lined up to get our lunch.
"Because she's the only family I have left and you know it"
"You have me and my family they adore you"
"I meant by blood"
"Oh...Are you going to eat today?"
"No not today" I said as he got his tray.
"You didn't eat yesterday either"
"I had a big breakfast" I said and he just stared at me.
"Really?" he asked not believing me.
"Yeah" he continued staring. "Ok I had a small breakfast" he continued staring. "What?" he continued staring. "Ok I had something to eat"
"Isabella" he said sternly as he continued staring.
"Ok, ok, I didn't eat" he finally looked away.
"Exactly" he said as he reached for another tray of food.
"I'm not hungry"
"Well your going to eat" he said putting the tray in my hands.
"Okay fine"

We paid for our lunch and went to go sit at our usual table towards the back of the cafeteria.

"Where's your sister?" I asked as we began to eat.
"I don't know she was going to join us today"
"Oh there she is" I said pointing over to Ariel coming in through the doors.

Ariel was a very pretty light skinned girl with wavy brown hair and hazel eyes. She was one of Lucas' younger sisters also my newest other best friend.

"Hey Is, Hey Luke" she said as she took a seat across from us.
"Hey El" I replied.
"What's up?" said Lucas.
"Sorry i'm late I was trying to say goodbye to my senior friends" she said.
"It sucks that you're only a junior" I told her.
"Yeah but next years my last year"
"Thank god we're seniors right Is?"
"Yeah but i'm sure going to miss this school" I said as I looked around.
"I'm going to miss Florida" he said remembering that he was leaving.
"I can't believe you're leaving me and going to California!! How am I supposed to survive without my best friend?" I said.
"How am I going to live to without my big bro?" Ariel said.
"Come on guys you know you won't miss me"
"Ofcorse we will Luke!! How can you say that?" I replied.
"Well I don't know maybe because you two are so close now you won't miss me. You'll have my little sister" he said looking at me. "And you'll have MY best friend" he said looking at Ariel and putting emphasis on my.
"That doesn't mean I won't miss you. You'll always be my older brother"
"And you'll always be my best friend and number too. Sorry El but he did come first and we were best friends longer since we were in elementary" I said looking at her.
"It's okay I understand i'm the new one"
"I love you guys" he said.
"And we can still message each other on IM. Speaking of that did you ever figure out the password to your aim?" I asked.
"No dude I can't believe I forgot it. I guess i'm going to have to make another one"
"Oh well don't forget"
"Ariel remind me to do that when we get home" he told her.
"Will do"

We finished eating and went off to class. Since it was the last day of school it wasn't really class. Lucas and I ended up walking out like everyone else and we spent the rest of the day saying goodbye to our teachers and friends. When school finished Lucas drove me home to the place I hated the most. I arrived home changed into my uniform and Lucas dropped me off at work.

"Your late" my aunt (Nicole as she prefers to be called) said as I entered.
"No i'm not it's three o' clock" I said.
"It three o' one and now for that you have to stay until closing time"
"But today's Lucas' goodbye party"
"The president could've invited you for all I care you have work to do"
"Please! I'm sorry! I promise I won't be late again" I begged.
"NO!" she yelled.

I slowly turned around as my eyes filled with tears.

"Oh and one more thing" I turned back around. "You have to unload the truck out back"
"But that's Edward's job"
"Well Edward has the day off its his last day of high school and he's free to celebrate with his friends and his sisters"
"But-" I was cut off.
"What are you waiting for? Get to work! Now!" she yelled.
"Ok" I said as I walked to the back doors and began to help unloading the truck.

I finished unloading the truck and I went back inside when I saw my cousins Juliet and the twins Edward and Virginia entering the store.

"Mom we need money to buy outfits for the party" I over heard Virginia say to Nicole.
"Here's two hundred dollars if you need more let me know" she said as she handed Virginia the money and they walked out.

I was furious. How could they be allowed to go to the party but not me? I mean he was MY best friend not theirs.
